DO-IT Pals
DO-IT Pals were teens and young adults with disabilities who were pursuing or interested in a college education and career. DO-IT Pals benefited from having an online community to support them:
- Mentorship—They sent emails and made personal contact with DO-IT Mentors who supported their academic, career, and personal goals. Mentors were college students, faculty, engineers, scientists, and other professionals. Many DO-IT Mentors had disabilities themselves.
- Exploration—They explored academic and career interests and gained access to resources about scholarships, internships, and other opportunities.
Youth with disabilities who wanted to go to college and who had an email address were encouraged to apply to become a DO-IT Pal.
DO-IT Pal parents could join a community of parents by sending a request to join the DO-IT Parent list to doit@uw.edu.
